Selecting engineering as a career may not be that tricky as it is to select a stream. After qualifying the engineering entrance exams, it’s time to select the stream. Choice majorly depends on the interest of the candidate. Suppose a candidate has an interest in aircraft. In that case, they can be an aerospace engineer. On the other hand, if machines fascinate an engineering aspirant, then mechanical engineering is what they is seeking for.

In the past, selecting a stream for oneself was not an issue as there were not many choices and colleges for engineering. The increase in the number of colleges and the possibilities of all streams created the stage of confusion for candidates.

Wandering which stream to select can be the biggest dilemma for students as well as their parents. A candidate might have an interest in all kinds of streams or may not be aware of the best-suited stream for them.

Many aspirants and their parents analyse the market trends, talk to people from the industry or try to know about all possible streams in the best possible way. Here, in this article, we have attempted to provide every possible knowledge about each stream which can help the aspirants to select their appropriate direction.

Choose Your Engineering Stream:

Engineering is a field that involves both theory and practical. After getting this clear, and knowing about each stream of engineering clearly, one can finally decide the best-suited stream/branch for him/her. Before knowing the steps which one can follow to finalise the branch of engineering, one should try to find about each branch in brief. Here we have tried to provide information about each stream for candidates’ reference.

How to choose your Engineering stream: Mechanical Engineering (ME)

Mechanical Engineering is one of the most varied and assorted engineering field. The field concerns the very aspect of life around us, including the modern life and human body which itself a complex machine. A mechanical engineer has to play purpose, which includes a wide variety of industries such as biotechnology, aerospace, automobile, electronics, computer, robotics, energy conversion and many more. The education of mechanical engineering provides a variety of career options irrespective of the particular path chosen by the candidate.

How to choose your Engineering stream: Civil Engineering (CE)

The course of Civil Engineering is one of the oldest of all disciplines. The course deals with the established environment one sees around himself. The course has its roots from history when someone placed a roof for the first time to make it a home or someone made a small bridge using the wood and jute ropes. It is surrounded by the environment, which includes building stuff which defines the modern form of civilisation. The civil engineers form construction work of bridges on highways, roads, railways, airports, subway stations, etc. Also, when a person opens up a tap expecting water for shower, is the work of a civil engineer. The work of an engineer affects the day to day life in a manner that nobody even notices it.

The work of a civil engineer is not limited to just designing buildings and bridges. They are also found in the aerospace industry, space stations, many are found in designing jetliners, automotive industry and much more. They are also found in the shipbuilding industry, power industry, etc. Their work is to plan and provide constructed facilities.

The complete discipline of civil engineering is quite fascinating and exciting as one gets to see the results of hard work in the form of a building, bridge, dam, railways, etc. One can also make good money in this field.

How to choose your Engineering stream: Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE)

Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE),  is the one who deals with the opportunities, needs and problems related to electrical, computer, telecommunications, electronics, and related industries. The branch of EEE is full of significant knowledge of core disciplines such as signal processing, microprocessors, frequency design, control systems, electronic memory storage devices, CNC machines, power production, etc. The course focuses on the manufacture and design of the electronic device, electrical aspect and the other parts of the complex systems.

The engineers of EEE have to analyse, develop, design and also manufacture the electric equipment, devices, control systems, etc.  They also deal with transmission systems and power generation systems.

The course is exceptionally job-oriented. But the candidates need to note that not all colleges have the facility of infrastructure to support all practical experiments. Also, after completing the time, most of the engineers work for software companies as hardcore electronic companies are not good in a number.

The profit of studying the core branches, i.e. Civil, Electrical or Mechanical is that one can find a lot of jobs in government and private sectors easily.

How to choose your Engineering stream: Computer Science Engineering

Computer Science Engineering (CSE) includes various topics like analysis of algorithms, designing of a program, software, etc. It includes a variety of topics that relates to computation, like analysis of algorithms, programming languages, program design, software, and computer hardware.

CSE is known to have deep roots in mathematics, linguistics and electrical engineering. In past years, the course of computer science was taught to students as a part of the engineering departments of mathematics. In modern days the subject has risen as a separate engineering field.

The field includes different aspects of computer languages and processes in which candidates get to learn the technical variety of hardware and software. Generally, candidates confuse education of computer science with computer science engineering. There is much difference between both subjects as CS is mainly focused on the troubles based on the issues on the software level. The field is focused on the operating systems and the programming languages, technical aspect and the advancements. At the same time, the CSE is mainly focused on the software and hardware interface along with the problems related to it. Computer Science Engineering is the stream which covers the elementary information of computer programming.

Candidates learn about both software and hardware systems and also get acquaintance on the communication systems and relevant devices. This also becomes one of the reasons why CSE students are chosen for robotics research.

How to Choose Your Engineering Branch for You

As soon as a candidate completes class 12th examination, its chance for a candidate to pursue his/her dream course of engineering. A person can either pursue a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) or B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology). There is a slight difference between the two of these, i.e. Bachelor of Engineering courses concentrates on the core area of study in engineering subjects. On the other hand, B.Tech streams emphasise on the application of engineering subjects. There are various types of divisions available in both B.E and B.Tech listed below for consideration.
